G.I. Joe Action Figures at ToysRUs in 1983

In a newspaper ad packed with E.T. merch we find this small block for Hasbro’s G.I. Joe action figures. This is from early in the G.I. Joe run in the eighties, so I am not sure if the brand was a hit at this point or not. I’ll know more next week; I’m set to visit the Strong Museum where I’ll be seeking out sales data and retailer anecdotes on the G.I. Joe toys of the eighties. Wish me luck!
