G.I. Joe Adventure Team Advertisement from 1973

When I wrote about the death of action figure outfit sets one of the key inspirations was Hasbro’s G.I. Joe Adventure Team toys of the 1970s. I spent way too many hours staring at the various outfit sets shown in G.I. Joe and Other Backyard Heroes*, and even today I think that there’s an opportunity for someone to step in and create outfit sets as add-ons for action figures.

Of course none of that matters the minute we run across an old newspaper ad like this one. Published in the Deseret News in 1973, this ad for Hasbro’s G.I. Joe Adventure Team toys (Amazon.com search*) should excite any of you who remember those older toys. And those prices? Wow. We don’t see toys priced like this often today.
