G.I. Joe in 3-D #3 Comic Advertisement

It’s not every day of the week that Psyche-Out is the star of a G.I. Joe comic, and seeing this 1987 ad for the Blackthorne G.I. Joe in 3-D comic series has me wondering if part of the deal with Hasbro was that the comic would feature lesser characters. Also: How did Marvel feel about the situation when Blackthorne started publishing G.I. Joe comics alongside the Marvel series?
