G.I. Joe Skystorm at KayBee Toys in 1988
Out of that same KayBee Toys newspaper ad where we found the Transformers Pretenders a few days ago comes this block for the G.I. Joe Skystorm, one of the later G.I. Joe vehicle releases of the eighties. Stopping to think about it now, Hasbro’s G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero line survived a lot longer at retail than seems reasonable; how many years after the end of the original Real American Hero animated series did these toys continue on? Transformers, by comparison, faded quickly once the cartoon ended, so what made G.I. Joe such a winner?
