G.I. Joe Subscription Figures at Big Bad Toy Store
That G.I. Joe Con Cobra B.A.T. Squad Leader action figure that I posted last month needs some friends. Well, friends he can get, as I happened to notice that Big Bad Toy Store is listing several subscription figures for sale, including the Inferno B.A.T.
What is even cooler is that some of the figures are listed on clearance, cutting about $20 off the listed price. Check the site for the list of available figures, and bulk up your G.I. Joe action figure collection. I own a handful of the subscription figures already, and in my experience these are just as fun as the toys Hasbro has released into stores over the last decade or so.
Wait. Is the G.I. Joe 25th anniversary line now a decade old? Wow. Okay, that’s a bit of a surprise. What’s even more surprising is how many of the 25th toys are still on Amazon.com*. I guess this means it isn’t too late to start a collection of what’s now “those older figures.” I’ll be over here trying not to think about how very old I am if you need me.

Wow, there are some great ones for sale there! So is Hasbro moving to doing the Joes via subscription only now? I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve actually seen them in stores.
I can’t believe this is a ten year old figure at this point. I still love all things B.A.T.
It seems to me like the Modern Joes have lost popularity and aren’t as in-demand/valuable as they once were. I keep thinking that G.I. Joe might be dying out, but it’s nice to see that Hasbro keeps putting out some product for fans. I sold a lot of my Modern Joes, but kept several favorites. They looks nice but I never liked how floppy and delicate they feel. I still love the ’80s and ’90s Joes, which definitely feel more like toys even if the sculpts are more dumpy.
I have been fortunate enough to purchase the FSS every year and have been getting 2 of each as the 25th line is the only line I want a sealed and loose collection to display. I love the retro-style cardbacks and wish more lines would do retro-packaging. The Super 7 Ultimate line for MOTU did this and those look awesome.
