Ghostbusters, DC, and Middle Earth Roleplaying in 1986

Clearly, that 1985 DC Heroes ad we saw a few days ago had some sort of value to Mayfair Games. How else would you explain this ad from the December 1986 Boys’ Life issue? What I find especially interesting is that this time around, the DC Heroes roleplaying game (find at Amazon.com*) was joined by three other titles, two of which are licensed brands with a little more value today than when this ad was new.

Now I wanna explore the 1987 issues to see if West End Games took their Star Wars roleplaying game to Boys’ Life magazine . . .
