Gundam Docks at Hong Kong Video Visit
About five hours ago I wandered to the Causeway Bay area in Hong Kong for a peek at the Gundam exhibit at the Times Square shopping mall. I had seen photos online of the exhibit, but trust me when I say that internet pics in no way prepare you for the experience of seeing this amazing exhibit up close. And, since I was there, I shot a video of the exhibit to share with all of you.
We start outside with the roughly twenty foot tall mecha and then work our way indoors to the “Gundam Market” where they were offering exclusive Gundam goodies. I bought a couple of toys, a nifty folder, and even managed to secure the last of one of the exclusive t-shirts in my size. That shirt took a little talking to nab; they were completely out of my size except for their display shirt and after ten minutes of back and forth chatter my persistence paid off and they reluctantly sold me the display shirt. Yay, me!
I hope you guys enjoy the ten minute video. It’s truly an amazing exhibit and not at all like what we often see in shopping malls in the US. And just look at how many other people are shooting photos, video, and buying toys!
Wow, that’s fantastic. How cool to see in person!
Okay, the giant statues outside are pretty cool, but those human-sized Zaku are AWESOME! Totally jealous and glad you made it home safe!
@John Maddening – I got very lucky that I had the time to get over to the mall. It helped a lot that the display starts just as you’re exiting the station; going up the escalator it’s just right there as you walk out.
You’d have to be blind to miss these.
@JustinD – I should schedule a vacation in Hong Kong again with Gina and have you guys join us. I’ve pretty much got enough of a handle on the place that I could guide others around.
