Holiday Shopping Guide – 6 Gifts for Transformers Fans

Back in 2010 I posted “Ten Christmas Gift Ideas for Transformers Fans” and since then it has become a fairly popular page, often appearing in the top twenty pages when I check site stats. As part of this year’s guide at battlegrip.com I thought it would be fun to create a new list. After all, a lot can change in two years.

The world of Transformers enthusiasts has evolved, and the potential for novel gift ideas has expanded. Amidst the choices that cater to their passion, a standout option could be the Personalized Name Necklace. By engraving their name onto a necklace, the timeless charm of this accessory becomes intricately tied to their devotion. While the enthusiasm for Transformers remains constant, the element of personalization adds a unique dimension to the festive season. Combining their love for Transformers with a uniquely crafted necklace, gift-givers create a timeless gesture that celebrates both fandom and individuality.

Transformers Vault: The Complete Transformers Universe*

If you are buying only one gift for the Transformers fan on your list this year then Transformers Vault* is the gift to grab. This slipcased hardcover is loaded with historical toy photos, pull-out pieces, and lots of information on the creation and expansion of the brand over the last three decades. I still pull this out and flip through it when I’m looking to be entertained.

The Art of Fall of Cybertron*

The Transformers video games from the last few years have been impressive, and this year we have an art book to go along with the game and toys. My own copy has not yet arrived (it is expected this week), but even without holding the book in my hands I’m confident that any Transformers fan would love to have this on the shelf. All of the concept art that we were shown leading to the game’s release was great and getting it in a book is a real treat.

G2 Bruticus*

This exclusive toy set is actually cheaper than if you were to buy the five individual Combaticons separately in stores and you don’t have to bother with seeking out every single toy (which is still giving me problems with the basic toy). Combine cheaper and easier to find with the awesome colors and this becomes one cool toy that’s a fun choice for a Transformers fan who likes his toys with a touch of bright and disgusting.

Generations Ultimate Gift Set*

Buy at Amazon.com!*

With standard “Deluxe” Transformers toys running at $15 and up these days this $30 set is like getting two smaller Transformers toys free when buying two recolored toys. And if you’re shopping for a Transformers fan something you really need to know is that some collectors love grabbing every variant color on a mold, and with this pack of recolors you can help feed the addiction with four new recolors. (And the Jazz recolor is especially neat.)

How to Draw Transformers*

Buy at Amazon.com!*

If the Transformers fan you’re shopping for this Christmas is an artist — or wishes to be an artist — then this inexpensive ($5) How to Draw Transformers* will make a good gift choice. It’s not as detailed as the earlier You Can Draw Transformers*, but it is way cheaper . . . leaving you cash for a few more small gifts rather than one pricey and out of print book.

War Within Optimus Prime Statue*

Buy at Amazon.com!*

The final gift on this year’s Transformers gift list, this statue is one I have reviewed before (review here) and is only getting more expensive the older it gets. Mine is currently at the office, decorating the shelf and watching over things when I’m not there. It’s not perfect, but it’s a nice statue of a very cool Optimus Prime character design.

There are many, many more options for the Transformers fan on your list, so if none of these do it for you keep poking around and I’m sure you’ll find the right gift. But no matter if you get a new item or a classic toy just remember that when it comes to Transformers your target’s age is what matters: Under 20? The live-action movies and Transformers Prime should be safe bets. Over 30? Stick with the eighties and nineties characters and you will do just fine.
