“Hover over the secret lake in the Air-Sea Rescue Copter.”
If we look closely at the 1976 Fisher-Price Adventure People advertisement that’s posted at 2 Warps to Neptune we can see that the marketing of the line involved more than just “here are some toys representing real world things.” Story and (not shockingly) adventure appear in the advertisement, making this incredible ad far more fun than if all we saw were photos of the toys.
I still want a book dedicated to the Adventure People, but after a chat with Matt Doughty of Onell Design I can report that an independently-produced Adventure People booklet does exist. Matt shared some snaps of pages in the book, and even though the production values aren’t the best I still want the book. If anyone has a copy of “Fisher-Price Adventure People: 1975-1985 Unofficial Catalog” that they’re willing to part with please contact me right away!
