Ideal’s “Bang Box” Game Commercial
Why can’t we buy this game today? Bang Box (BoardGameGeek page) was published in 1969 and looks to me like a work of genius. A box loaded with balloons, a spinner, a hammer, and toy nails are all you need to play this explosive game in which kids pound nails into the box . . . just hope that you don’t pop one of the balloons!
The game’s page at BoardGameGeek doesn’t give it the best of ratings, but in watching the 1969 commercial I’m confident that this would be lots of fun and likely sell fairly well around Christmas. What parents wouldn’t want to give their kids a game designed around popping balloons?

I got mine on eBay. And while it is loud, it is every bit as fun as the commercial shows…
