Spotted Online – IGN Has Batman Title Details

Unfortunately, according to this post at IGN, author Duane Swierczynski (blog, Twitter) will not be writing the new Batman #1 for DC (rumor mentioned here).

But there is some good news. Scott Snyder, Batman: The Black Mirror author (reading post here), is joining Greg Capullo on Batman #1 starting later this year. The description at IGN makes it absolutely certain that this is not a reboot of the series, but the promise is that:

“For the Batman titles, they will be accessible and won’t be confusing to new readers or old readers alike,” said Marts. “We are concentrating on story first and accessibility and bringing in new readers. We’re not doing anything that will be pushing away either of those two groups.”

We’ll just have to wait and see what really happens. Please forgive me if I’m skeptical and don’t completely believe that they can meet those promises; I suspect that in less than a year new readers will be confused by some detail or other that pops up in a story.
