Interviewed at Action Figure Blues
If you’ve been following my Transforming Collections project (Kickstarter page) then you may want to check the latest podcast at Action Figure Blues. Scott, Ben, and John took time out of their schedules to discuss the project with me and, as usual, our conversation veered into other areas at times.
Thanks for having me on the show, guys, and I hope your listeners found our chat about third party Transformers toys entertaining.

Just heard your interview on the AFB podcast. Want an example of globalization and how the world has become smaller? Here I am in Malaysia, listening to a podcast on Toy Collecting by a bunch of Australians, interviewing an American Toy Collector, who wants to go to Hong Kong to make a Toy Shop Guide for Hong Kong! Wow! And I would probably buy that guide and head on to Hong Kong better prepared than I was in 2009 when I was there last. Did find a couple of half-decent shops but I don’t think I found the mother lode!
It was also interesting to note that you are part of Steven Jackson Games and that you worked with John Kovalic on Dork Tower as Munchkin and Dork Tower are two things I really like.
All the best in your KickStarter project but by the sounds of it you have all the bases covered and are well on your way to producing the book. This is in complete contrast to the horror stories you hear of KickStarter projects that go horribly wrong. I think you even mentioned it in the interview as well but your example was of a noob venturing into some arena he is not qualified in at all but I heard of stories where these guys know their stuff but they fail when their business plan/strategy isn’t properly planned out and can’t cope with the extra production, customer service and even the IRD.

@fess – Thanks for the encouragement! Kickstarter can work out great if you plan and try to stick to he plan. I think I’m on track to deliver the book in December; it’s all gonna depend on how much time I can devote to the project between now and November 1st or so. But so far I think things are going well.
