Intro to the 1987 G.I. Joe Animated Movie
1987’s G.I. Joe A Real American Hero: The Movie* gets some negative press here and there — mostly focused on the weirdness of Cobra-La (see Wikipedia) — but I think it has held up well and is a fun part of the classic eighties G.I. Joe cartoon.
And that opening sequence? Still one of the best animated intros ever created! You’ve never seen it? Then watch it right now!

Right on! One of the best intros ever! I think its sung by the phantom x19 commercial guy!
@Matthew M – Too bad the new G.I. Joe movie didn’t look back at this one for some inspiration.
YO JOE! Watching that intro brings me right back to my childhood.
I agree with you about the intro. It was the best, however I also agree with some of negative reviews. Poor cobra commander being turn into a snake, and it did look more like a bad nightmare.
@Rosie – I still liked the Cobra Commander transformation. Added that right level of weird/fantastic to the G.I. Joe brand that they’d started a few years before the movie hit.
