“It was a rough planet. They needed 1,000 lawmen. They got one. He was enough.”
Mattel and Filmation’s BraveStarr (Wikipedia entry) was published as a 3-D comic by Blackthorne Publishing, as seen in this 1987 advertisement from an issue of the company’s BattleTech series. BraveStarr didn’t last long, with the Mattel toys released in 1986 and the Filmation series distributed a year later. I can remember catching a few episodes, and I definitely remember the commercials for the line, but I have no knowledge of what this comic was like. The art in the ad has an eighties charm to it, but unless I accidentally find these at a very low price, it is unlikely I ever add BraveStarr in 3-D comics to my random and unfocused comic collection.
You know, plenty of these toy properties got alot more work than they deserved.
Bravestar, Inhumanoids, Galaxy Rangers, Spiral Zone etc etc all had some great writing and hard work put into a toy add essentially.
@Court – Everyone was hoping for a hit and throwing what seemed like _any_ idea at the shelves.
