It’s the “Energized” Spider-Man for 2009!
Entertainment Earth is taking pre-orders on the new Spectacular Electronic Spider-Man and everything about this toy immediately makes me think of the old Remco Enegerized Spider-Man toy of the late 70s. (Plaid Stallions has the details on Energized Spider-Man.)
I know this new Spider-Man toy has a lot more going on, but the minute I saw it the Energized Spider-Man came to mind. Probably because I wanted one of those when I was 5 or 6 and I never got one.
At least this new one’s articulated. But hey, the Energized Spider-Man had a helicopter! And I can prove it with this commercial.
Toys with ropes are awesome. I had several GI Joe toys that had the auto-winch and I loved them. They could pull, hang, and of course, knot.
I had the Energized Spider-Man when I was a kid. I LOVED that thing. There was a movie that came out in the 70’s where this kid had an Energized Spider-Man toy and his brother got mad at him and put it in the oven… watching that little boy see his prized toy become a glob of molten plastic broke my
young heart.
