Jurassic Strike Force 5 and Grimm Fairy Tales at New York Toy Fair 2012

Zenescope Entertainment is here at the New York Toy Fair with samples of their upcoming Jurassic Strike Force 5 and Grimm Fairy Tales action figures. The toys look okay, but I honestly feel as if they’re a little old-fashioned in their overall appearance; almost as if they were designed in 1998 or 1999 and not today. I’m not at all trying to say these are bad or that no one should look at them — especially the dinosaur soldiers! — but only that they feel sorta retro. Well, maybe not retro, but just not as slick or modern like we usually see from action figures these days.

Take a look at the Flickr set for more pics, and these two short videos to see the samples revolving. But turn your volume down before starting either video. All you’ll hear is the background noise of the convention.

  1. I agree with your assesment on the Jurassic figs. It’s as if Moore studios went back in time, created these things, then zipped back to the future of 2012. I tell you Phil, I’ve been collecting pop-culture collectibles and action figures for quite some time, and what is happening overall to the industry is disturbing. I feel that the majority of the producers of action-figs these days believes we will buy whatever they are selling. Just take a look at one of your older Transformers figures and compare it to todays Tformers. I know the companies need to cut corners to keep prices low, but enough is enough. I’d much rather spend more to get more. That being said, these Moore figs are atrocious. I long for the early to mid nineties, the golden age of action figures as I call it, when McFarlane actually cared about his Spawn fan base, and Transformer toys weighed two pounds! Cool stuff then, not so much now. Thanks for letting rant. LOVE your site Phil!
