K-Mart, Transformers, and Manufacturing Problems

Yesterday’s 1984 K-Mart ad for Transformers toys promised some fantastic deals, but it turns out that kids in October of 1984 weren’t going to be able to take advantage of that K-Mart offer. You see, this October 9, 1984, ad block warns kids that “Due to manufacturing problems, stores do not have any of these items and are therefore unable to offer them for sale.” Manufacturing problems? Okay, kids, who broke the factory in 1984 and left K-Mart without any Soundwaves to sell?
