Keith Giffen’s 1994 Trencher X-Mas Comic
Last month I mentioned that I’m a fan of Keith Giffen’s artwork on Trencher (posted here), and while I know I’m in the minority in this statement I just couldn’t pass up the chance to share this cover when I uncovered the comic here at home.
By the time this Trencher “The X-Mas Bites Holiday Blow Out” comic book hit store shelves Giffen’s Trencher was no longer with Image, making it less “hot” and a bit tougher to even find an audience. I — as you can see — went out of my way to score a copy for myself because I really did (and still do!) love the work Giffen did on this series. That art may be wild, but it’s incredibly detailed and lots of fun.
And hey, there’s a Dave Johnson pinup of Trencher inside? I’d forgotten about that. Seeing this makes me want to drag out Johnson’s work on Super Patriot again. I loved that art as well! Later. For now I’m busy enough and cannot get distracted.
