Kenner-Style Action Figures (Twilight Zone and ReAction) at Hastings!
The 3.75-inch scale retro action figure trend continues to expand, and now I’m finding both the Twilight Zone (Amazon.com search*) and Funko’s ReAction Figure series (Amazon.com search*) at the Hastings near my home.
Now finding the ReAction series in stores isn’t an entirely new experience for me, but I was completely stunned to find the Twilight Zone action figures for sale at the store level. Someone out there really believes in these Kenner-style figures; what happens next is either sales are strong enough that the trend continues or we see a sudden crash and a lot of clearanced toys. Personally, I’m hoping for success.

I found some of The Goonies figures on an end cap at my local Target. They had them on a peg alongside some Funko Pop! stuff, so maybe they’re dipping their toe into the collector toy market. Do those gigantic Hasting’s stickers come off very well? It would be a shame to have to leave them on such sweet cardbacks!
It might seem counterintuitive, but I kind of wish they had these figures for modern toy lines too. Their price point and durability is very attractive to me for my kids — never mind for collectors. From a playability standpoint, today’s action figures have too many tiny, loose pieces and accessories that get lost instantly, and their arms and legs tend to fall off as well. My sons get more enjoyment out of playing with old action figures than ones they get off the shelves of Target. Kenner got it right back in the 70’s. 🙂
Wow i was just thinking of getting that Invader, wish we had this chain near me! Did it look decent in person?
With all of the different films that Super7 and Funko have tapped, I am still wondering why we haven’t seen the unproduced figures from The Last Starfigher. I thought it would have been a sure lock after the success of the Alien figures. I would much rather see unproduced figures from the 80s over toys that look like they are unproduced figures from the 80s.
Still cant get behind this line for some reason, it’s really impressive, the amount of IPs and figures their pumping out.
Just not my cup of tea.
I think it’s pretty impressive how Funko has pushed these out to so many stores. I recall being surprised how quickly they hooked up with Super7 when the first ReAction figures were released.
I love how that Invader is technically in scale.
I think hes actually shorter than the other 3-3/4 figures, when he should be the same size to be a “human”. Wish he wasn’t so small.
