Kenner’s 1981 Star Wars Survival Kit Offer Pages from the Pre-Toy Fair Catalog
Fans of Kenner’s classic Star Wars action figures (find at Amazon.com*) are going to love these pages from the 1981 Pre-Toy Fair Catalog. The Action Figure Survival Kit (see theswca.com) was one of those popular mail-away promotions from the early eighties that were seemingly everywhere at the time, and these two pages gave retailers information on the planned promotion.

STAR WARS fans will be able to get this sensational Action Figures Survival Kit — including twelve accessories from HOTH Backpacks, Asteroid Gas Masks and Laser Weapons to JEDI Training Backpack and more! All free with only 5 proofs-of-purchase from any STAR WARS Action Figures. A special TV commercial will alert STAR WARS fans everywhere to this exciting promotion. Complete details of this offer will be on the STAR WARS: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Action Figure packages.”

Man, here’s something from toys of the past, accessory packs.
Always loved toy lines that had these as purchaseables.
I agree. That was one of the great things about GI Joe toys is every couple of years they would release an armory pack, full of guns and backpacks.
I had this, it was awesome! Backpacks, a belt and grappling hook, blasters, gas masks. Lots of neat add-ons for Star Wars figures.
I actually got a letter before mine showed up, saying that Kenner had received WAY more requests for this then expected, so instead of 4-6 weeks for delivery, it took around 6 months to show up.
Not that I cared.
I had those! One of the better accessory pack ideas at the time. Still have Luke’s backpack for Yoda somewhere…
