Had it [Megabug Gladiators] been spawned in the 1980s, Megabugs would have likely gotten an animated series to support the concept and been a bigger hit.

Agreed! These mechanical insect toys, complete with firing weapons, look so amazing that I sometimes poke around at eBay in search of a deal on one or two of the toys. The line didn’t last long at retail, so newspaper ads like this one are quite rare. Finding an ad for Kenner’s Star Wars action figures is always a treat, but running across the Megabug Gladiators is like finding a gold ring encrusted with diamonds when panning for gold. These toys look fun!
