Kenner’s Star Wars and Milton Bradley’s Star Bird Toys: Look at the artwork, people!!!
I’m probably way too entertained by the artwork in these old newspaper advertisements. Did the teams working on ads like this one from 1978 find the line artwork as exciting as I do today, or was this simply a job for most of them and no real care or attention went into the work beyond: Get this done and accepted? Now I can fully admit that my love for these ads is likely unhealthy, but can’t we all agree that seeing these old ads is a hell of a lot of fun? It’s a peek at a much simpler time.
I promise you that Disney would never endorse such crude illustrations today.
NOTE: I suspect this actually isn’t artwork. I think what we may be seeing here are poor photos that are suffering from a translation process that wasn’t all that forgiving. Maybe.

Didn’t realize the Starbird was the premium vehicle (according to pricing) to have. And I’d give anything to get an X-wing with sounds for $13!!
@Jay – It’s a pretty high-tech (for the late seventies) toy.
