Kenner’s Star Wars TIE Fighter and X-Wing Toys in 1978
If you’ve ever been a fan of Kenner’s Star Wars action figures and vehicles (find at Amazon.com*) then you’ve no doubt drooled over the TIE Fighter and X-Wing at some point. It’s kinda amazing how many years Kenner (then Hasbro) got use out of these designs, but today I’d like to go all of the way back to the beginning and this 1978 newspaper ad. Notice anything special? Look closely. “Plus 2 characters from Star Wars with each set” sure as hell caught my eye. What sort of magic special was this in 1978?
