Kickstarter – 12-Inch Scale Ghost in the Shell Tank

Damn! There are some ideas that are just so monumentally insane and awesome all at once that I hope that they succeed. Today’s most insane idea that I’ve encountered has to be the Kickstarter project to construct a 12-inch scale version of the spider tank from Ghost in the Shell (Amazon.com search*). What makes it insane? Simply that they’re planning to release 5,000 standard versions and 1,000 limited versions of the toy . . . and that you have to kick in $1,000 to get the tank.

This six-legged, spider like tank comes complete with machine guns and cannons attached to its imposing frame. We wanted to create a toy that was well designed, engineered and manufactured from premium materials. A product that your friends would stop in surprise and ask you where the hell you got it from?? There will be two releases of the figure; a regular pose-able figure of 5000, and a deluxe limited edition of 1000. The limited edition will have battle damage, a diorama of the battle scene from the movie, and a battle torn Motoko Kusanagi (We are working on the figure having camouflage that is similar to the movies effects).

This would be absolutely amazing if the Kickstarter project succeeds and the toy is made. I’m not tossing $1,000 into the project, but I wish these guys luck. Man, I bet that if this is released it’s going to be one of those giant toys that is so unbelievable that it becomes an toy collecting legend.
