Kickstarter – Gateway: The Book of Wizards
Looking at Kickstarter this morning I came across an artbook project, Gateway: The Book of Wizards, that caused me to stop for two reasons:
- The art looks fabulous.
- The artist’s name, Sean Murray, and the style of the art looked really familiar.
So I started the project’s video and the moment Sean came onscreen I knew why the art and name caught my attention: I worked with Sean Murray many, many years ago when I was art director on the roleplaying game book, GURPS Discworld Also. Sean was a great artist back then and he has only gotten much, much better in the 10+ years since we worked on that project together.
I am definitely backing this project.
The Book of Wizards is a book… an illustrated “field guide” to various famous practitioners of magic in a fantasy world called “Gateway”. When printed, it will be about 100 pages long, and will have about 65 illustrations or more in it, mostly color, some black and white.

@Iron Panda – Fantastic! Just a few thousand dollars more needed and the project will be a success. I am looking forward to seeing it come together; Sean’s art was great when we worked together and he has improved dramatically since the last time I talked to him.
