Ladybird Books’ Transformers “Autobots Fight Back” Artwork
Over the weekend a large batch of Ladybird Books arrived, including a single entry from the company’s Transformers series (Amazon.com search*). Autobots Fight Back, published in 1985, is a tiny storybook featuring wonderfully terrible artwork that blends the toys, animation, and comic character designs all together.
Similar to the Marvel books Transformers stories from the eighties (see “Reading – Transformers: Decepticon Hijack” and Transformers: Insecticon Attack Artwork”), this artwork is a blast to flip through and look at. Just take a look at how Bumblebee is drawn in the book and I think you’ll see why I’m enjoying this work.
