We find this full-page advertisement for the Star Trek/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cross-over from a 1994 issue of Starlog magazine and are immediately reminded that Playmates used to mix the Turtles with everything they could get their hands on. A wacky blend, yes, but one that performed well and is still a collectible that fans of both properties can enjoy.
I think my favourite mash-up was the Universal Monsters series that they did — even April got a look in!
This was actually one of their more sensible mash ups as they held the license for both. Personally, I would have liked to see the Star Trek cast dressed as the Turtles too, but we can’t have everything.
@Nick Ahlhelm – Yeah, the business side definitely made more sense than a few other mashups we have seen. (Masters of the Universe vs DC, for example, still confuses me.)
