Mad Max: Fury Road Trailer from SDCC
Looking more like The Road Warrior* and Beyond Thunderdome* than it does the original Max Max, I find it interesting that the new Mad Max: Fury Road has so much already shot. Based on what I had been hearing about the film I simply assumed there was lots of filming left to go, but this trailer makes it look like a hell of a lot of the movie is already wrapped up.
I’m really torn on this one. It looks fun, yes, but I think I was expecting something new and not just a smashing together of ideas and visuals from the earlier trilogy. Still, the cinematography looks impressive and I am sure I’ll wind up watching this. Maybe not in theaters, but I will see this one.

Honestly, this teaser looks a little weird. But by the time we got the ‘Thunderdome’ the Mad Max saga had gotten pretty weird anyway.
I am a little disturbed at how much of this movie seems to mirror ‘The Road Warrior,’ if not in story at least in specific situations and visuals. Nevertheless, I think I’ll have to see this in the theater, just to support Mad Max.
@clark – I’m with you on the visuals. It almost feels like the earlier movies were used to storyboard the new film.
I read yesterday that the actors often worked without a script. Since this is really a re-imagining of the first film with new characters I’d suspect that we’ll see a lot of familiarity. That’s not necessarily a bad thing though.
@Jay – I think I read that they basically worked from storyboards. No script. Storyboards. Little dialogue. I have to admit to being concerned about the story.
