Mad Max: Fury Road Was Awesome!
The Mad Max film series (Amazon.com search*) has existed for the majority of my life, but for as fun as the original three movies are they simply cannot compare to the new movie, Mad Max: Fury Road. Gina and I went to the theater yesterday (2D showing) and despite concerns that the film has been too hyped — Rotten Tomatoes audience score of 93% — it was incredibly fun.
The movie is intense, with very few pauses and a hell of a lot of violence, quick cuts, and a soundtrack that’s a blend of a demolition derby and rock concert. Hell, one vehicle alone exists solely to transport a guitarist and four drummers into battle! Everything was well-crafted, insane, and far more fun than I was expecting.
It’s gonna be tough for any movie this year to come close to the fun and intensity of Mad Max: Fury Road. This one’s a masterpiece of popcorn cinema. Deep story? Nah. Let’s blow up the world!

Loved this movie. It fit right in with the older film, with the action and stunts kicked up several notches. I had reservations about them making another Mad Max, that it was going to be a heartless money grab; but I am very glad George Miller wanted to revisit this world and can’t wait for him to take us back.
@clark – Yeah, I was surprised at how much fun this turned out. And the word is a second film is basically written, so maybe we won’t have to wait 30 years for another in the series.
