Mattel “Guts” and “Cuties” and Hasbro’s Battle Beasts
August 30, 1987. The GUTS ad we saw earlier today turns out to be not so alone when it comes to 1980s newspaper ads showcasing the line. This particular ad block from the Star-Gazette newspaper of Elmira, NY, also brings us a look at Hasbro’s Battle Beasts (check the text) and Mattel’s line of M.U.S.C.L.E.-like Cuties toys. Great. Now I’m left asking: Just how rare are the Cutie toys these days?
GUTS is still one of my favorite minifigure lines ever. Heck, one of my favorite toylines ever. I have every figure but I still have never picked up any of the vehicles yet.
