Mattel’s Latest Masters of the Universe Classics Subscription at 27%
Oh. I somehow had completely missed that the latest Masters of the Universe Classics series (Amazon.com search*) was another one of their “better join or it won’t happen!” subscriptions. I foolishly assumed this was happening no matter what, but this Matty Collector forum post shows how very wrong I am:
As of last night we have met 27% of our set goal. We still have a ways to go but considering the subscription was just opened this Monday I’d say we are off to a pretty good start!
Okay, so it’s going to be about three weeks of “subscribe or these toys don’t get made!” nonsense. Dammit, Mattel. You’re a big company. Is it possible to just make a decision and go for it? Or maybe just use Kickstarter if you want to judge the demand of something; that would give fans instant feedback on process and show everyone the true number of supporters and level of interest.
And I’ve no idea who “Skeletor’s Love Child” actually is, but when you work for a corporation that is anything but non-profit it is disingenuous to post things like:
What I can tell you without a doubt is NO, this number has not been deflated to entice the purchase of more subs for Mattel’s financial gain.
Mattel is a business and exists for financial gain!
