MattyCollector Becomes MegoCollector

MattyCollector.com has announced that an 8-inch Green Arrow action figure will be available at their site on December 15th. This is the first in a new series of Retro Action DC Super Heroes that are clearly inspired by the Mego World’s Greatest Super Heroes line from the seventies.

“Check out these prototype images. You’ll see they’re not recreations, but updates lovingly based on the old style. In some cases, we’re even improving on iconic features for some of your favorite characters, like a more accurate belt buckle for Green Arrow, or an “s” curl in the hair of Superman.”

“Green Arrow is up first, and he’ll be offered right here at MattyCollector.com on December 15th. This will be followed by a line at Toys “R” Us and select online retailers in the spring.”

I wasn’t a Mego kid in the seventies, but I do have a copy of Mego 8″ Super Heroes: World’s Greatest Toys* laying by my bed because the book is so much fun to flip through. I may need to order a Green Arrow next week, just to get a close look at what Mattel is doing with this new line.
