Mego’s Buck Rogers Star Fighter and Draconian Marauder Ad from 1979
The October, 1979 issue of The Rook magazine taunts me by sharing this ad featuring the Buck Rogers 3.75-inch scale starship toys. I’ve posted about these toys before (see this post from April) and seeing this ad makes me again want to start searching eBay for the vehicles.
What I find most interesting about the ad is how it calls these toys pre-assembled model kits. Odd. Was there some opposition to toy spaceships in 1979, or was the idea of vehicles for action figures still so new that they didn’t know how to promote these designs? It can’t be that; what about all of the other Mego vehicles, G.I. Joe vehicles, and Star Wars vehicles that came before these?
