Michael Whelan’s Cover for the New Harlan Ellison Collection
I mentioned The Top of the Volcano — the new Harlan Ellison collection from Subterranean Press — earlier this year — when I managed to get in and pre-order one of the lettered editions before they were all snatched up. At the time there was no cover for the book, but since I was after the 536-page collection for the stories I didn’t mind at all that there wasn’t a cover design.
Well, the missing cover issue is no more and now we can see the Michael Whelan cover for the new collection. Very nice work! But that’s what we expect when we hear Michael Whelan is working on the cover . . .
The book is expected to ship next month and I can’t wait to get this into my hands and start reading. Sure I already own some of the stories in other forms, but this collection looks great and I am sure I’ll get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

Love Michael Whelan’s artwork. He did some amazing stuff for Cirith Ungol’s albums in the 1980s.
