Micro Adventure Books of the Eighties
This is new to me! The Scholastic Micro Adventure book series (find at Amazon.com*) was published in 1984 and 1985, and was a “Choose Your Own Adventure”-like series with one twist: The books included BASIC code that you had to type into the computer and execute in order to complete steps in the adventure. This is incredible! How did I not know about this back when I was a kid?

Robot Race, one of the books in the series, is at archive.org if you’re curious and want a peek inside the books. The below sample pages should give you a pretty good idea of what you can expect from the line.
Seriously, just how did I miss this series when I was a kid? I would have loved these!
