More Glyos System Big Rig Photos
The Glyos System Big Rig (last mentioned here) has an official release date: Sunday, October 23 2001 at 9pm eastern. And it’s only $50, which is less than I was expecting for a vinyl toy of this size. So for the price of two basic Rigs you can get this enhanced monstrosity of a toy.
Since I was lucky enough to get a Glyos System Big Rig at NYCC last weekend I sat down and snapped some more photos of the toy; see the photos at Flickr and get ready for the release on Sunday. I don’t think this toy is going to last very long once it’s officially released.

Man, if I had fifty bucks left to blow on awesome things I don’t really need. But the new Human Alliance wave just hit and I’m sliding into a dangerous DC Universe collecting pit…
I’m going to try for at least the standard Rig Wing, so I have to make sure I’m home when the drop happens. Plus, Walk Dead is on at 9pm, so I’ll have to keep the PC on to buy at a moment’s notice. Matt did such a cool job on this colorway, the big Rig is massively. AND if you turn it upside down, NiStuff & I noticed it looked like a battle station.
Thanks for posting more pictures. I have been saving up for this release.
@Black Zarak – I keep eyeing those smaller Human Alliance Transformers but the human faces are so ugly that I keep skipping the toys. Seriously, Hasbro looks like they don’t know anything about humans when it comes to those figures. I like the Transformers, though.
I agree absolutely, most of the drivers get thrown in a drawer immediately. The guy that came with Sandstorm was a cross-eyed Frankenstein and the one with Tailpipe has his eyes painted too far over so he looks constantly afraid of something to his right. On the other hand, the sets with helmeted human partners feel like M.A.S.K. toys. Drag Strip, the new Decepticon racer, actually has a Nascar style driver cast in smokey translucent plastic like he’s a hologram. Reminded me of the split seconds from M.A.S.K.
@Black Zarak – Drag Strip is the one I’ve been watching for, but your description now has me wanting to go out and look in the local stores for one today.
He’s pretty cool, his “weapon” mode is crap. I think it’s supposed to be a shield, but since all the shield-y details are on the same side as the handle larger figures grip it by, it just looks like whoever has it is holding up a race car to block with. But the robot mode is pretty sweet and though the vehicle mode might be a little undersized to the driver, it looks nice.
