“More ‘Mechs for Your Deck” in 1997

You have to go all of the way back to the early part of 1997 for this product announcement from Wizards of the Coast. The first expansion to the BattleTech trading card game, I can remember buying so many Counderstrike boosters when the expansion hit stores. I’d buy them three or four at a time, and between about November of 1996 (when the game first launched) and through the end of 1997, I’d get a game or two in each week after work when Gina was getting her degree and working late hours.

Even though I was working full-time as Gina worked part-time and went to graduate school full-time, it still feels like I had more time for games back in the late nineties than I do today. I know a lot of that is because I work on games all day and need a break in the evenings, but there is totally a part of me that would like to make time for at least one small game each week. There are just more responsibilities and hobbies than time allows for these days.
