A couple of years ago, while poking at eBay, I encountered a Munny that was customized by Doktor A. After a few days of watching the bidding I dove in and, luckily, managed to win the auction for a very reasonable amount.

The Munny, for those of you unfamiliar with the toy, is presented as a blank canvas piece. Unlike many DIY toys, the Munny was designed solely as a DIY piece and isn’t simply just a white version of an existing toy.

Check out the official Munny website for a look at the Munny (and his various friends and accessories) as well as a look at the Munny Gallery.

And if you’re completely unfamiliar with designer toys/urban vinyl, I recommend trying the excellent books Dot Dot Dash: Designer Toys, Action Figures And Character Art and I Am Plastic: The Designer Toy Explosion. Both books are a few years old now but they’re packed with great photos of designer toys and customized toys. Of the two, Dot Dot Dash has more photos, but I Am Plastic may just be the better book. Either is a safe bet if you’re interested in these types of toys.

And hit Doktor A’s website for a look at all of the toys he has customized; there are some amazing works of art in his gallery.
