NECA Calls Mattel’s Batman vs Superman Action Figures “Awful” and “Laughable”

Well this was a bit of a surprise to spot on Twitter. It seems that someone running NECA’s Twitter responses isn’t all that much a fan of Mattel’s work on the new 6-inch scale Batman vs Superman action figures (find at Amazon.com*). Last night, in a tweet to a fan, the NECA account posted:

Just so that the exchange is completely clear I grabbed a screenshot of the tweet that includes the original question. I’ve not seen these toys in person, but if the action figures are such a poor quality that another toy company is calling the figures “awful” and “laughable” then I need to get a look at the line. These must be spectacularly bad for NECA to post something like this.

  1. There are two 6″ ranges — a movie version and a Multiverse version. The Multiverse ones are essentially a replacement for the Movie Masters figures Mattel used to do.

I have only seen WW reviewed, and while it looks pretty good as an interpretation of WW, it does not really look like Gal Gadot and there are serious eyebrow paint issues, rendering her a little too masculine-looking.

While I wouldn’t go as far as Randy did here, I wouldn’t (happily) pay what I pay for a NECA Predator for one. Hopefully DC Collectibles will issue some better ones in a few months or something.
