NECA’s Robocop Action Figures . . . and Why I Hate You All
I officially hate you all. Even though I haven’t had the greatest of luck with NECA’s action figures, a recent series of posts online has tricked me into ordering a couple of Robocop action figures (Amazon.com search*), and now I’m simply waiting for the toys to arrive. I’ve stared at these in the past and been able to resist, but over the last few weeks we’ve seen:
- A review at FigureFan Zero which felt quite fair, discussing a few negative points but ultimately saying good things.
- The Robot’s Pajamas Robocop review which gave the toy an 8 out of 10.
- A few gorgeous Robocop action figure photos at Cool & Collected.
How was I supposed to resist that onslaught of so much Robocop in such a short time?
I couldn’t, so I broke down and ordered the Glow-In-The-Dark Robocop* and the Battle Damaged Robocop* action figures. I sure as hell hope these are as neat as the pics and reviews make them look.

I can’t speak for the BD or GITD versions, but I own both the initial release and the later “spring-loaded holster” Robos and without a doubt SLH is the one to get. He has an improved sculpt and the addition of the pop-out holster gimmick is awesome!
I approve of this post.
I have to say, having owned all the various versions, I like the Figma one best. But the NECA versions are more screen-accurate and, obviously, much cheaper.
@3B – I’m hoping both of the figures are incredible. The real trick is for the toys to stand on their own, the joints to work, and nothing to be broken. I guess I’ll find our when they arrive.
@Vincent – Quiet, you! This is partly your fault. Good job on pushing me over the edge with these Robocop toys.
@Poe – The Figma toys I’ve opened and played with have been nice. Good joint system on those figures.
As someone who encouraged you to get more NECA in the past (with less than stellar results, unfortunately), yay! Hopefully you’ll have better luck with this one, knock on wood. I have the Glow In The Dark one and he’s a really fun figure. I’m loving all their old Kenner references, from this one to the upcoming old-school Predators they have in the works.
@Faugh – I saw other NECA toys today at Phat Collectibles and resisted the impulse to buy that Spring-Loaded Robocop. No need to buy stuff I can easily get at home when there is so much other stuff in the store.
I have the standard Robocop from NECA and I’m quite happy with it. Paint could probably be better in places but overall and fun statue – mine’s on my desk at work. The glow-in-the-dark figure just looks dumb to be so it’s not on my want list. Battle damage Robocop would be a nice addition but I have some other things to buy first.
