“New Zoids by Tomy” in 1983
The Zoids toyline (find at Amazon.com*) has struggled for decades in the United States, never really gaining a foothold or any significant success. And just how many years have toymakers tried to sell Zoids here in the US? Well, here’s a 1983 newspaper ad so we know it has been at least 33 years of Zoids sales in America. According to this Zoids Wikipedia entry the first release was in 1982. There’s a good chance this ad is about as early as we’ll find for the line.
