News – IDW’s New G.I. Joe Comic
Comics Continuum has posted preview pages from IDW’s new G.I. Joe comic that hits stores tomorrow. Personally, from what I can see in the preview there’s nothing to get me excited about the new series. I’ll probably flip through it at the comic store later this week, but based solely on this preview I don’t think I’ll bother picking it up. Hopefully an actual look through the comic will change my mind.
But then, I also never really got into the Devil’s Due series, so maybe I’m just old and grumpy.
I have most of the Devil’s Due run and it feels rather empty to me. When they went in the other direction with the very dark World War III, I felt it was too much.
At least IDW is publishing reprints of the classic stuff.
I enjoyed a good portion of the early part of the Devil’s Due run, but a handful of life caused me to close out my pull list, yet provided me with an excuse to buy a lot of toys for my step son.
*grins*
Still do, too.
As for the new IDW series; well, I ordered issue #0 at the same time I dropped funds on a six-month subscription, so as soon as I get a chance to absorb the issues, I’ll let you know.
It has Chuck Dixon going for it, whom I trust as one of the few writers to do Guy Gardner justice, as opposed to many other folks who make me just wanna punch them in the mouth. Beau Smith did good, even when they made him latch on to less than cool concepts; Buck Wargo, Guy Gardner, and the Monster Hunters were cool, dang it. 😉
