Official Star Wars Watches at JCPenny in 1978

This ad for Star Wars watches comes from a time when Star Wars was big news and generating lots of money. No, not last week, but back in late 1978 when we were unsure of whether or not the series would have legs. Hell, at the time this ad was new, Star Wars was less of a series and more of a hit film with a supporting toyline and comic book. Still, even before Empire reaches theaters, Star Wars was a strong enough francise to drive sales of branded watches. And you know that I wanted one of these when I was a kid.
