“Pick and choose toy stocks carefully, industry analysts say”
Wanna see a roller coaster from the eighties? Yesterday we saw a 1986 newspaper article that was all cheery and happy for Masters of the Universe sales. We know how that story turned out a year later. (Hint. He-Man went away.)
Today we see a 1986 Associated Press article in which Masters of the Universe is listed under “toys that have fallen off sharply.”
I wish I lived closer to the Brian Sutton-Smith Library (mentioned here) so that I could check their Playthings archive for stuff like this. I’d love to see how M.U.S.C.L.E.S. were ranking in retail sales during 1986.
