“Plurality” Short Film by Dennis Liu

Posted to the web in 2012, Plurality is a short cyberpunk film in which the people of New York City are DNA-scanned and connected to a city-wide grid that tracks their every action. The film twists quickly, becoming a near-future foot chase sequence when one of the characters is identified as a “plurality” as two copies of the same DNA register on the grid at the same time.

The film’s under 15-minutes long and well-crafted. Very much worth a look!

Best of all is that this is just one of several fun short films you can find on YouTube. I ran across Plurality while Gina and I worked through 15 Cyberpunk Short Films That Will Rock Your World, and after seeing these I find myself wishing there were time to take a stab at creating my own film. Not gonna happen, but it’s great to see so much creativity collected together in one place. And all available for us to watch at no charge.

If you enjoy any of these films and want more there’s the Neo Empire project on Kickstarter. Things aren’t looking good for the film project, but maybe they’ll get lucky and see a spike in support before the project closes.
