Portable Arcade Games in 1983

Back when I was a kid we didn’t carry our arcade games on our phones. Back in the early eighties arcade games were played on giant arcade cabinets or on home consoles that plugged into our massive televisions. I can still remember when the 27-inch TV at home was as much a piece of furniture as it was a television.

There did come a time, though, when arcade games shrunk down to smaller cabinets. And in this July, 1983 issue of Electronic Games Magazine we get a peek at those little cabinets. Hey, I’ve got that Zaxxon cabinet sitting in our game room here at home! I should pop some batteries in it again and see if this time it will power up and work.

While I give Zaxxon a try you can check out this vintage article. Who else wants a copy of the Milton-Bradley Arcade Mania boardgame?
