PrestoMagix Super Heroes from 1980
From June, 1980 and issue #17 of Marvel’s Shogun Warriors comic book (Amazon.com search*) comes this ad for free PrestoMagix just by mailing in cereal proofs-of-purchase. The Spider-Man and Hulk PrestoMagix are cool on their own, but after a quick internet search there’s something I find even more fascinating than this ad.
The ad spells “PrestoMagix as a single word, but searching online shows that “Presto Magix as two words seems to be the preferred method of spelling. And what’s more is that the Presto Magix Wikipedia page doesn’t mention either General Mills (the ad has a General Mills copyright notice; but I am now assuming that’s because of the cereal) or Paper Mate (the ad says “by Paper Mate” right on it). So what we have here is a question:
Who was manufacturing (and the rights owner) of the Presto Magix brand in 1980? Bonus question: Is it spelled as one word or two words?

LOVE PrestoMagix! My dad would pick these up whenever he came back from business trips. It’s such an easy, fun activity–someone needs to tell me why they still don’t make these, or why they haven’t made a comeback.
