Ralph McQuarrie Starkiller Sketches in “The Making of Star Wars”
We all know that famous Ralph McQuarrie painting of Starkiller squaring off against Vader, a work of beautiful artwork that was created before the Star Wars story was finished and before the characters took on their final shapes (and names).
The painting is an absolute masterpiece and I was surprised to spot two early rough sketches for the piece in The Making of Star Wars*. Buying this book in digital form and loading it onto my iPad was one of the best things I’ve done this year; now I can enjoy the book even when I’m not home!
