Resin Diorama Parts for 3.75-Inch Scale Action Figures

Over four years ago I showed off step-by-step pics of creating an action figure display (photos posted here), and since then I’ve thought it could be fun to construct another display or two. It doesn’t help matters any that I stumbled across my copy of How to Make Wargames Terrain* a few days ago, but even flipping through that book for a couple of minutes didn’t buy me the time to start any big projects.

And then, to make matters worse, I spotted a link to these 3.75-inch scale action figure diorama parts. Nice! These are clearly crafted with Hasbro’s Star Wars action figures in mind, and seeing these resin bits makes me realize that the only way I’ll ever take time for crafts like this is if I schedule time. Maybe in 2016.

  1. Actually I’m working on a modular system of walls and doors for bunkers scaled to 3 3/4″ figures presently.

The first part is a series of downloadable files that one can have 3D printed. The idea being that one prints a frame and slides a backing graphic in. There are standard walls and walls with working sliding doors. This keeps costs down. There is a “hub” of 3D printing providers that one should be able to go to and be able to print each section off for around $5 a piece. Here’s a link to a shot of a trial print of this. The sets are modular, so once printed they need to be assembled and painted, but a person could always print them in their desired colours and touch up finer details.

Secondly I’m developing a series of complete floors and walls that can interlock to give the impression of a bunker and can be stacked for higher rooms.

Currently I’ve a set of prototypes printing for both iterations which are due next week, I can’t wait to get my hands on them. Parts of this I think I might make open source, while other parts I’m considering monetizing, I’m just not sure which yet.

I’m cooking up a post on it for this week.
