Resolute Cobra Commander Pics and Thoughts

While searching the web for info this evening I came across some photos of the Resolute Cobra Commander at Turquoise Version; and all these do is make me wonder when the hell I’m gonna see this guy at one of the local stores. Seriously, this has got to be the best-looking Cobra Commander that Hasbro has ever released. I mean, look at that cloak and how you can pose him . . . beautiful!

The conclusion on the page makes it sound as if the toy isn’t as great in person as it is in photos, but even so I want one of these. The blog entry closes out by saying:

“He might not be the definitive Cobra Commander, but by no means does he not deserve to stand at the plateau. Sure, his articulation is restricted, but he looks good and is articulated enough. My only gripe is how loose the helmet is. Bleh.”

I think this guy’s just trying to trick me into not even looking for one of these figures. Hit the site, take a look at the photos, and make your own decision.

  1. Overall, I think it is a cool looking Cobra Commander, which I’ll definitely purchase, as soon as I see one, and my only gripe is that I want to see that same outfit with the hood.

I mean, the helmet is cool and, as we all know, it is sealed and booby trapped, with that nifty little drinking opening that you can’t tell is there, but the hood is awesome, too.

  2. I’ve seen him twice at the local Target but I cannot justify $7 per single figure. On the other hand, the multi-packs and vehicles are a pretty good value.

  3. De — Your Target must be better than ours; all I ever see there these days is Major Bludd (and lots of him).

Robert — I’m torn between the helmet and the hood. I love both on Cobra Commander and I would have a difficult time choosing just one over the other. I also really love the battle armor Cobra Commander, including the comic where they introduced the suit. (And Raptor. Man, what a bunch of weird characters were popping up then.)

  4. Hi, thanks for reading. I’d totally recommend this Cobra Commander. When I said he’s not the definitive Commander, I just meant if you’re an original cartoon purist. In which case, there’s a single carded 25th Anni Commander (with element) that might be more up your alley.

Also, helmet or hood? It’s all good.

  5. Phil – Now the Battle Armor was cool, too. Even more so with the plot by the enraged Fred VII who masqueraded in the armor for so long, if not for the loyalty of Fred VIII, the true Commander might not have even worn the armor. *grins* But, yeah, they dropped some odd characters into the comics, during the later part of the series.

updatedude – It’s all a matter of perspective, while I enjoyed the cartoon series, I started prior to the series with the comic books, thus I prefer the hood for inspirational speech and television moments and the helmet for in the field action. Either way, though, Cobra Commander is a fine villain.

  6. Robert – Actually, for my inspirational speech giving sessions, I’ve got the SDCC Cobra Commander in a Suit. ;D

There was a Springfield Blazer version, but gave that one a miss, despite it being the rarer variant.
